How to Become a Notary. Meet the general qualifications. Read the Missouri Notary Public Handbook. Take the online training course or written training course. Get your stamp or seal. After you get your license, you can get your stamp from: your bonding company, stamp providers such as office supply stores, or; online. By law, the vendor must see a copy of your notary license before making your stamp or seal. The notary stamp must include commission number, meet the size and content requirements. Get training from an approved education vendor (if applicable). Pass a state-administered exam (if applicable). Complete fingerprinting and background check (if applicable). Receive your commission certificate from the state. Get your surety bond (if applicable). File your commission paperwork (and bond) with your Notary regulating official.

If you answered yes to all of the above, all you need to do to become a Florida notary is to:
- Take a notary educational course (available for free on the State’s website)
- Read Chapter 117: Florida Statutes
- Complete a Florida notary application and mail it back to us along with the course certificate of completion

- Pay the State application fee ($38.00)
- Purchase a notary stamp and a notary record book to perform notarial acts

Take the three-hour Florida notary course free of charge.
All first-time notary applicants are required to take a notary educational course, read Chapter 117: Florida Statutes, and submit a signed Certificate of Course Completion when sending the notary application forms to the American Association of Notaries for processing.
The Florida's Governor Office offers a free online notary education course at www.notaries.dos.state.fl.us/ that fulfills these requirements and provides the Certificate of Completion necessary to apply for a new Florida notary commission.

application and notary training certificate to AAN.
Sign and mail your completed Florida notary application and the notary training certificate to the American Association of Notaries. We will review your notary application for accuracy and completeness before filing it electronically with the Florida Department of State.
